When coating our Deere vacuum planter seed disks with graphite, we prefer applying two coats. During the initial spray of graphite, it is easy to see the worn areas needing coverage. However, adding the second layer often leads to excess graphite near the center, as the wear pattern becomes obscured. This surplus graphite then conceals the painted numbers on the seed disks, which are essential for aligning them with the respective row units.
The GraphiteGuide is a straightforward, user-friendly paint mask designed to fit over the seed disk’s central hub. It prevents graphite overspray from reaching the non-wear areas, ensuring the row unit number markings remain visible. Use the built-in vertical tab to lift and move the GraphiteGuide from disk to disk, reducing interaction with wet graphite. Limiting the painted area also conserves graphite, allowing a graphite spray can to cover more disks, saving money.
